Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of a Museum Honoring Two Extraordin
🌟The Legion of Honor in San Francisco is a must-visit! 🏛️ It’s celebrating its 100th anniversary (since November 11, 1924). The story is fascinating: A common girl, Alma, married the son of a wealthy businessman after five years. With a passion for art, she traveled across Europe, sponsoring and collecting artworks, including a series of exquisite sculptures by Rodin… Their family rival, De Young (a newspaper tycoon who criticized her father-in-law and was shot by him), built a museum first, and now it’s a joint ticket with the Legion of Honor (it seems they’ve always had the same art director). 🌟Currently, the museum is showcasing the works of Mary Cassatt, an American artist who was among the first female Impressionists, dedicating her life to art. I just learned her name, and her gender presented her with many constraints, but it also made her incredibly brave in breaking through and expressing herself. Her paintings exude a gentleness and courage that’s truly moving. She said, “Only the supreme art and inner character can leave a lasting legacy in the world,” so true. 🎨 The collection itself is rich, with a large Monet’s Water Lilies right before your eyes. The brushstrokes and colors are something that photos just can’t capture… And there are works by Degas, Renoir, Manet, and Pissarro. Of course, the highlight is Rodin, where you can get up close and personal with the details, feeling the agony and despair in his sculptures. 😢 🌟The museum admission is $20 (including De Young), and I got it for just ¥128 on Agoda. 🎟️ #SanFranciscoDayTrip #SanFranciscoTravel #SanFranciscoTourism #USATouristVisa #LegionOfHonor #SanFranciscoMuseum
