Central New York City is affordable omakase❗

I’m back with another entry in my New York affordable omakase series!! I’ve posted countless installments before—yesterday afternoon, I suddenly had a huge craving for sushi, but I really couldn’t be bothered to head downtown. I checked the map and found a decently rated spot near my office, so I made a last-minute reservation. Here’s a review of my experience! ✨ This place specializes in innovative omakase—what some might call “sacrilegious” in traditional sushi circles. But after a meal where I gorged on wagyu, uni, foie gras, truffle, and toro, I’ll quietly admit… man, it was delicious. It’s perfect for when you’re starving—super satisfying. The fish slices are huge 🐟, and halfway through, I kept asking the chef to go easy on the rice 🍚… yet I still left so full I could barely walk! Lao Wang, though, was full of praise—he’s used to accompanying me to places where I complain about not getting full, so this was a win for him. ✨ There are a few menu options: 14 courses for $88, 15 courses for $100. Since we’re both big eaters, we went for the 19-course option at $150—it comes with a few extra appetizers and a tasting of three types of A5 wagyu. ✨ A few of my personal favorites— The Hokkaido uni hand roll was incredible! They give so much uni—cool, creamy uni with warm rice and crispy nori is just divine. 🐧 The “sacrilegious” eel and foie gras hand roll was sizzling with oil—unreal. 🐟 Both the chutoro and otoro courses were rich and flavorful. 🐙 The scallop was plump and tender, and the squid was sliced with impressive knife skills 👍🏻. 🍫 By the time they brought out individual round tiramisu for dessert, I was stuffed to the brim—but it was actually really good! The mascarpone was icy cold, topped with a thick dusting of cocoa, and the cake was soaked in coffee. In summary, they do a great job with rich, indulgent ingredients. The only downside might be that the course order could be more refined—after all that uni, wagyu, and foie gras, a sudden scallop course caught me off guard, hhhh. By the time we finished before 7 PM, the entire restaurant was packed—mostly with foreigners. All in all, it’s a spot I’ll definitely visit again. ✨ The ambiance is nice—there’s counter seating and regular tables, with three chefs. Our chef was great—quiet, but he explained each dish carefully… though he strictly refused to be in any photos, hhhh. That’s it for today’s share—hope I made you hungry! Follow me for more New York food and life content, and have a great almost-Friday, everyone! ✨ Shogun Omakase ✨ 295 Madison Ave #101G, New York, NY 10017 #ShoutOutLocalEats #NewYorkFood #NewYorkLife #NewYorkOmakase #NewYorkAffordableJapanese #NewYorkAffordableOmakase #MidtownNYC #MidtownNewYorkFood #Manhattan #ManhattanFood #NewYorkEats #Uni #FoieGrasSushi #Wagyu
