Charleston in May 🌸
🚩 The Battery A scenic waterfront area where the city meets the harbor ⛵️. You’ll see sailboats dotting the water and a park with historic cannons to explore. Across the park, Meeting St. is lined with beautiful historic homes. 🚩 Church Street & King Street Charleston’s architecture is its crown jewel 👑—think charming two-story buildings lining the streets. You can hire a horse-drawn carriage or a rickshaw (pulled by impressively fit drivers 💪) for a tour. What stood out? Nearly every woman wore gorgeous floral dresses, elegant and full of Southern grace 🌺. As a visitor from a quieter town, I felt underdressed! While the street was predominantly white, the unpleasant smell of urine and sourness in some areas was hard to ignore. 🚩 City Market A long, historic market in downtown Charleston 🛍️. It opens at 9:30 AM and closes around 6 PM, with extended hours on weekend evenings. Perfect for souvenirs and local crafts! 🚩 Cypress Gardens A must-visit! 🛶 For just $10, your ticket includes: The Notebook-style boat ride 🎬 Alligator sightings 🐊 A butterfly garden 🦋 A small zoo 🐢🐍 Gliding through the swamp was magical! Go early to avoid crowds and heat—the boat ride takes about 45 minutes. Note: Last ride is at 4:15 PM. Afterward, don’t miss "Boss," the giant smiling alligator, and the zoo’s exotic turtles, lizards, and snakes! #Nature #ScenicBeauty #TravelDiaries #ExploreTheOutdoors #Charleston #SouthCarolina #NorthCarolina #NorthAmerica #USTravel 🌿
