The Avon River weaves through the city, blending culture and gardens seamlessly—my second-favorite NZ city (after Queenstown, of course!). 🚶‍♀️ Citywalk Route: Arts Centre → Avon River → Botanic Gardens → Cashel Street (shopping) → Heritage Tram → ChristChurch Cathedral → Cardboard Cathedral 📍 Arts Centre Gothic architecture, craft shops, and cafés. Don’t miss the "floating house" installation! We caught a live theater performance at noon! 📍 Avon River Stroll along the banks or try punting (like Cambridge, UK!). Punting tour: 30 mins, ~NZ$42/person (departs near Botanic Gardens). ⏰ 8:30 AM–5:30 PM. 📍 Christchurch Botanic Gardens Rose garden + conservatories—spring blooms are magical! 🎫 Free entry. 📍 Hagley Park (next to Botanic Gardens) Ideal for picnics or cycling. 📍 Bridge of Remembrance / Cashel Street Street art + boutique shops for unique souvenirs. Spot the heritage tram rolling by! 📍 New Regent Street Pastel-colored buildings + vintage tram = Instagram gold! 🚃 Tram ride: NZ$40 (unlimited hops). 📍 ChristChurch Cathedral Iconic landmark (under post-earthquake repair)—still worth a photo! 📍 Cardboard Cathedral Temporary but awe-inspiring paper-based design by Shigeru Ban. ⏰ 9:00 AM–5:00 PM | 🎫 Free. 🏠 Stay: Hotel Give (near the cathedral, 8-min walk to shops)—great value + location! 🍕 Eat: Chiwahwah Mexican Cantina Bar: Open late (until 10 PM!).
