Christchurch Town Day Trip | Sydney to Christchurch in 3 Hours

✨ Flew direct from Sydney to Christchurch (3 hours!), spent a day and a half here—and while the city center isn’t huge, every spot is walkable. Here’s our chill route, foodie finds, and a few “wish-I-could” moments: 🌞 Our Itinerary Riverside Market ➡️ Cardboard Cathedral ➡️ Cathedral Square (under renovation 😅) ➡️ Heritage Tram Ride ➡️ New Regent Street ➡️ Avon River Boat Cruise (book via Puting on the Avon website—$40 NZD/person, SO worth it!) ➡️ Christchurch Arts Centre (art installation “floating house” but closed for a wedding that afternoon… so close！). 🚢 Avon River Cruise: My New Favorite Thing The boat ride was perfection—comfy sofa seats, sunshine pouring in, and the river glinting with golden light. I even nodded off for a lazy nap (don’t judge…). Wish they had a “sunbathing on a boat” package 🌞—pure bliss. 🍽️ Dinner at Castro’s Christchurch (Spanish Cuisine) Found this gem for dinner—average $50 NZD/person, great value！ Here’s what we ordered: • Tapa: Mushroom Croquettes 🍄: Creamy mushroom pâté with truffle—paired with a tangy yogurt dip, it’s rich but not heavy at all！ • Classic Fried Calamari 🦑: Super fresh squid tentacles—spicy lovers, ASK for their homemade chili sauce (not on the menu, but life-changing). • Steak: Dry-Aged Ribeye 🥩: Ordered medium-rare—huge portion, enough for two！ Served with garlic bread, it was pure indulgence. 🌸 NZ Spring Vibes Daytime was warm and sunny (spring is in the air！), but nights got chilly—good thing we packed layers！ The next morning, we rented a car and headed to Tekapo (3-hour drive away)—can’t wait to explore that lake district next！ 🍷🌿Christchurch in a day?
