Colombo Day Tour
🛕Pink Mosque, a historic mosque in Colombo, is located near the busiest shopping market in Colombo. It's a 15-minute walk through the Pettah Market to reach it. The entire building's exterior is adorned with red and white tiles, making it very distinctive. Unfortunately, the mosque opens late on weekends (around 12 PM?), so we only took photos outside. It's recommended to take photos from the street opposite the side entrance of the mosque. 🌟Gallery, originally we wanted to visit Geoffrey Bawa's residence, but it was closed on weekends, so we had to give up and went to the Gallery Cafe. This place used to be Bawa's workshop, and it is run by the owner of another shop I like, Paradise Road. Architecture, nature, art, light and shadow, and tradition are perfectly integrated here. Sitting in the courtyard for a cup of coffee and a dessert is very pleasant. 🖼️The National Museum of Colombo, you can buy a combined ticket with the Natural History Museum for 1200 rupees. This is the oldest museum in Sri Lanka, and its white building with green lawns is very beautiful. The National Museum is very large (with nearly 30 exhibition halls), and it took me nearly 2 hours to walk through it. The museum houses the Zheng He Stele and the Lion Throne from Kandy, as well as various statues, porcelain, murals, masks, etc. The Natural History Museum contains various specimens of animals and plants. Independence Square and Independence Memorial Hall, located to the east of the University of Colombo, is a cultural square with the Independence Memorial Hall as its landmark. It is open all day and is free of charge. ☕Paradise Road Cafe (open from 10:00 to 19:00), has two floors and sells a variety of home goods, including various bowls, plates, utensils, candle holders, decorations, soft furnishings, etc. The layout of the entire store is also very beautiful, making it great for taking photos. The second floor has a coffee bar with coffee, desserts, and light meals for sale, as well as various homemade teas and spices. The dining area has an old-fashioned windowsill and a wall of murals, which looks very nice. #Paradise Road Cafe #Colombo#The Gallery Café#The National Museum#Jami UI-Alfar Mosque#Sri lanka
