Copenhagen | Don’t Miss Denmark’s Most Interesting Design Museum
As a self-proclaimed seasoned exhibition-goer, I’ve explored numerous museums across Denmark, and my favorite by far is the Danish Design Museum (Designmuseum Denmark). For those who appreciate modern art and furniture design, this is a must-visit! My criteria for evaluation include the atmosphere, the theme and innovation of the exhibits, the photo-worthiness, and the collectible value of the gift shop items. 🔻 Atmosphere: The museum was formerly a hospital, and the blend of medieval interior spaces with modern art is ingeniously playful. Every piece, from the collections to the spaces, is full of clever details! 🏚️✨ 🔻 Theme/Diversity of Exhibits: The collection ranges from medieval furniture, lighting from different periods, to modern interactive installations and fashion design. There are also forward-looking biomaterials (like growable chairs, ash plants, and robotic pets). The exhibits themselves are full of creativity, and the thought-provoking topics behind them are equally interesting. I happened to visit during an exhibition about Irma, a local grocery store that became famous through its packaging design, branding, and creating a brand story – very intriguing indeed. 🛋️🌿🐾 🔻 Photo-Worthiness: The museum is filled with photo-op spots. Unfortunately, I was traveling alone and couldn’t find someone to take pictures with me, but even a few selfies got plenty of likes on Instagram – over 50! 📸💯 🔻 Souvenirs: Here, you can buy various creative art-related merchandise, and there’s also a collective store where you can find works by other Danish designers, like the popular studio arhoj and twisty cups. I feel like any poster would be a perfect addition to your home, showcasing your personality and making visitors cry tears of admiration over your taste. 🖼️😢 📍 = Designmuseum Denmark, 💰 Admission: 20💰 🍽️ Café: Pretty average. #Copenhagen #Denmark #DanishTravel #FurnitureDesign #EuropeanTravel #NordicDesign #ArchitectureDesign
