DaNico in Canada | Another new Michelin-starred restaurant has opened! ๐
Iโve been keeping an eye on this place since spring, and I made sure to visit on opening day. To my surprise, we were actually the first table of guests after they officially opened! ๐ฒ๐ฝ๏ธ This new spot is run by the chef of Don Alfonso 1890 in Toronto, and itโs named after him. Overall, from the location and decor to the menu and pricing, itโs quite similar to the old restaurant, with the main difference being that the old place had a white-themed decor. ๐ค๐ผ๏ธ The menu still offers two tiers: $225/$150 per person, with the option for wine pairing at $200/$120 per person. ๐ทโจ APERITIVO: Oysters, tuna, caviar, and Wagyu tartare, plus one more item that I couldnโt quite identify. ๐ฆช๐ GRANCHIO AL GUSTO MEDITERRANEO: The king crab legs were rich in flavor. The sweetness of the crab combined with the tangy fruit chunks, and the crispy, airy texture was delightful. ๐ฆ๐ ANATRA ALL ARANCIA: The duck breast was tasty, but only one slice felt a bit stingy. I could have used more! ๐ The foie gras was rich but not overwhelming. ๐ฝ๏ธ TORTELLINI DโAGNELLO E ANGUILLA AFFUMICATA: These tortellini were noteworthy! The lamb flavor was robust, and the balance of sweet, salty, and minty notes was perfect. ๐๐ฟ MERLUZZO NERO, VERMOUTH E CAVIALE: Iโm not a fan of black cod, but this dish was on point with the fish's tenderness and seasoning. ๐๐ IL MANZO: I wonโt comment much here. Most places in Toronto serving Wagyu donโt impress me, but this one has never let me down. The charred texture was interesting, though the accompanying shishito peppers and potato terrine were rather average. ๐ฅฉ๐ฅ BOSCO DELLE FRAGOLE: My favorite dessert, panna cotta!!! I can't have Italian food without it. ๐ฎโค๏ธ COCCOLE FINALI: Standard petit fours, though now there are three instead of the usual one. Not a big issue since I was already full and not too keen on these little sweets. ๐ฌ๐ฐ ๐ท The wine pairing was a nice touch, with each dish blending well with the wines. ๐ป The bathroom mirrors are quite stylish! ๐ฟ๐ซ ๐ฐ We ordered the less expensive wine pairing, and with the tip, the total per person was around $400. ๐ต๐ณ ๐ ฟ๏ธ Valet parking is available, but we parked at a nearby lot. ๐๐ #CanadianCuisine #FoodReview #CanadianLifestyle #Canada ### Restaurant Name: DaNico Address: 440 College St, Toronto, ON M5T 1T3 Type: Restaurant ###
