Darwin, Australia – A Slow-Paced City Travel Guide
I visited in late June. Even though it’s winter in Australia, Darwin is near the equator ☀️, so it was still hot — perfect for shorts and T-shirts! 👉🏻 There are very few attractions within Darwin city itself, so I highly recommend renting a car at the airport. Budget and Thrifty are relatively cheap, but have fewer car models. Avis is the largest with the most options, but also more expensive. (I’ll share more about Australia travel tips later!) 🌅 For city sights: Check the sunset time and head to the beach in the afternoon. At night, there’s a night market by the shore with local food, Asian dishes, fresh juices, and sodas 🍹🍜. It’s bigger and more diverse than Sydney’s markets! 🏞️ Litchfield National Park: This park has many beautiful spots. Plan a full day here. Don’t forget your swimsuit 🩱! If you’re not a strong swimmer, bring a float — some waterholes are over 6 meters deep 😮. I didn’t take photos of Florence Falls… because it’s just too stunning — you have to see it yourself! 🐊 Adelaide River Jumping Crocodile Cruise: I joined a small boat tour to see crocodiles jumping. The guides feed the crocs — it’s wild! Book tickets on crocodilecruises.com 🎫. Boats depart at fixed times, but when we went, the last cruise was at 3 PM (not strictly followed). 🗺️ I made a mini itinerary with distances from Darwin City to each attraction — feel free to use it for reference! ❌ Finally… the Cage of Death: I originally wanted to try it (hype was everywhere!), but when I got to the park, it felt overrated. Almost everyone in line was Chinese. The water didn’t look clean either 💧… so I skipped it. That said, the crocodile park itself is still worth a visit 🐊! #DarwinTravel #Australia #TravelGuide #SlowTravel #LitchfieldNP #CrocodileCruise #NatureAdventure #RoadTripAustralia 🌴✈️📸
