Denver’s Innovative Mexican – Mezcaleria Alma Review 🌶️✨

Mezcaleria Alma is the sister restaurant of Alma Fonda Fina (same owner). Since we couldn’t get a table at the latter, we settled for Mezcaleria to satisfy the craving. The vibes are quite different – Mezcaleria is tapas-style, more casual and relaxed. Walking in, we were immediately wowed by two huge aging cabinets filled with tempting tuna and snapper. The restaurant also earned a 2025 Michelin Recommendation! Here’s my personal rating after dining: Flavor: 3/5 😍😍😍 The ingredients are top-notch – aged fish was flavorful, and they even use Sakura pork. However, the seasoning was consistently very heavy – every dish (made by different chefs) was overly salty and spicy. It felt like a bit of a waste of such quality ingredients – I’d have preferred to taste more of the natural flavors. The dish designs showed creativity though – like the duck dish with deconstructed black bean patty, shredded duck, and veggies. The fish paired with chives was also interesting. Plating was beautiful, so it gets a passing grade. Service: 5/5 😍😍😍😍😍 Ambiance: 3/5 🥲🥲🥲 Grease/smoke odor was strong – if you’re sensitive, think twice. The bar faces the open cooking area with no proper ventilation, and the dining space is small, so it felt quite smoky inside. 📌 Tip: Book ahead, and parking is street only. #Foodie #USTravel #RestaurantRecs #Colorado #DenverEats #MexicanCuisine
