Denver | Mile-High City Free Attractions
I used to think Denver was kind of boring — so I decided to explore the surrounding area without spending a dime. Turns out, the city’s quiet wild beauty, stunning red rock formations, and ancient mysteries are all hidden in free-to-visit spots 🌄💸. 🦬 Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge On my first visit, I went the wrong way (didn’t check the map) and got stopped by a big pickup truck telling me to turn around 🛻🫸. But luckily, I spotted bison early on — didn’t see any later! The park is full of plump, adorable groundhogs everywhere 🐿️. Also spotted eagles 🦅 and deer 🦌. There’s a lake near the entrance with lots of small wildlife — super peaceful. 🏞️ Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre Truly a natural masterpiece! The red rocks feel strangely imposing and awe-inspiring — no fancy amusements, just lots of people working out or hiking. The space is huge, but honestly, it wasn’t as jaw-dropping as I expected. 🦕 Dinosaur Ridge The entrance is a bit tricky to find — it’s across the main road from Red Rocks, look for parked cars 🚗. The first few fossils are kinda abstract (hard to recognize), but the footprint area behind the hill is spectacular — a whole slope covered with clear, ancient dinosaur tracks 👣✨. Plus, running into friendly dogs on walks with their owners along the trail was an added delight 🐕❤️. #HiddenGems #Denver #USTravel #FreeAttractions #NatureLovers #ExploreColorado #WildlifeWatching #RedRocks #DinosaurTracks #BudgetTravel 🌿🦬📸
