Dined at a Legendary Restaurant | A Century-Old Michelin 🌟🌟🌟
📍Although my Paris trip has barely passed 1/3, I've encountered my most favorite Fine Dining restaurant, a century-old Michelin three-star that became a one-star due to not changing its menu. 🍽️This La Tour d‘Argent, the Silver Tower Restaurant, is the oldest and most legendary restaurant in Paris. French King Louis XIV, Cardinal Richelieu, Queen Elizabeth II of England, and even President John F. Kennedy and his wife... are all regulars here. The restaurant was founded in 1582, and it's said that King Henry IV of France loved to dine here after hunting. After World War I, the new owner reopened La Tour d‘Argent and continued the classic dish "Canard à la Presse" (pressed duck), even inviting the former chef of the King of Egypt. (We ordered it too!) This restaurant received its Michelin three stars 🌟🌟🌟 in 1933 and maintained them for 60 years. It's said that at the end of the '90s, the then-Michelin chief believed that La Tour d‘Argent's menu had not changed for many years, which went against the original intention of a three-star rating, thus it was downgraded to one star 🌟. 🌟But to this day, celebrities, royals, and stars from around the world dine here. Hermes even designed a scarf specifically for it. This restaurant is my choice for a "must-visit at least once in a lifetime" dining experience. Understanding La Tour d‘Argent also shows us in another way: Michelin is a standard for rating restaurants but never the only one. BTW, La Tour d‘Argent offers more than just Fine Dining; it also has a bakery/hotel/bistro/bar. Next time, I'm ready to fully explore. From the ambiance to the service, from the decor to the taste, La Tour d‘Argent = Amazing. I rarely give such high praise to a restaurant. I truly, truly love it. #ParisTravel #ParisFood #ParisRestaurant #FineDining
