Dining at The Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh π°
This is a private members-only club located in the heart of Edinburgh, established in 1919. Originally, it was founded to commemorate the soldiers of the Royal Scots Regiment who perished in World War I. The club exudes a rich historical atmosphere with its elegant and classical decor. As a member of the Oxford Union, I was able to enjoy reciprocal membership benefits, which allowed me to have lunch here. (Non-members can only book breakfast and dinner.) The appetizer was Hot Smoked Scottish Salmon paired with pickled watermelon. The dish was refreshing with just the right amount of smoky flavorβa delightful surprise of the day. π For the main course, I chose the Roast of the Day βbacon-wrapped meat with sauce, layered potatoes, and mushrooms. While the sides were quite good, the meat was a bit dry, which was a slight disappointment. Perhaps my expectations were high due to previous excellent dining experiences at other private clubs in London, but this one felt a bit underwhelming. π Overall, the setting is definitely worth a visit, especially to experience the honor and history of a traditional military club. The food could be more refined to match the setting. π½οΈ #TheRoyalScotsClub #ReciprocalMembership #GoodEats #SpringTravel #FoodieDiaries #Edinburgh #EdinburghEats #GlobalFoodHunter #UKPrivateClub #HistoricArchitecture #Scotland
