I'm back at Lake Como! 😍 Last time, a train strike cut my trip short, and I only managed to visit Bellagio and Lecco. This time, thanks to a conference, I finally made it to Varenna! 🚄✨ 🚄 Trains from Milano Centrale to Varenna run hourly, and the journey takes just about an hour. Super convenient! 🕒🚆 Once you arrive, head straight to 📍Villa Monastero. The entrance fee for the garden is €10 per person, with a 50% discount for under-25s (just show your passport!). 🎫👶 🏝️ As you wander through the garden, keep going until you're almost at the end. That's where you'll find this stunning terrace! Have your friend/photographer go halfway up the hill via the stairs, while you stay on the terrace. 📸👫 The overhead shot through the leaves is incredibly clean and picturesque, featuring only the azure lake, lush greenery in the foreground, and the ancient garden path. Paired with the clear, bright sunlight of a summer afternoon around 4-5 PM, every shot looks amazing, making you feel like the star of the show! 🌟🌞 Villa Monastero is truly a photographer's dream, with countless beautiful spots. But if you want empty frames, you might need to arrive early or stay until closing time—it's super popular in summer! 🔥📷 Some Not-So-Important Tips 💡 1️⃣ Lake Como is crawling with beautiful people taking photos! We saw several wedding shoots and commercial shoots at Villa Monastero. Be patient and grab your chance when a good spot opens up! 👰📸 2️⃣ The weather in the lake area is unpredictable. We had clouds all morning and a heavy downpour for over an hour in the afternoon, but the post-rain sunlight was incredibly clear and bright! ☔🌞 Patience pays off! 3️⃣ Varenna has several villas, all with stunning Italian gardens and lake views. However, some may be closed for private events. For example, Villa Cipressi was closed when we visited. It's worth checking in advance! 🏰🔒 4️⃣ Near the entrance of Villa Monastero, there's a gateway.
