Durban's Famous " The House of Curries" Restaurant
Drawn in by the daily crowds, we decided to give this spot a try. The host (possibly the manager) greeted us with mediocre service, immediately seating us at the worst table in the back—not a great first impression. 😒 Only after I spoke up did they move us to a better spot. Sometimes in South Africa, you really notice certain white staff members' unfriendly attitudes, even a hint of discrimination. Later, another white server attended to us with much better service—the contrast was stark.✨✨ ✨Honestly, when faced with bad service, part of me wants to "teach them a lesson" by ordering more and making extra requests—just to see if they’ll improve. South Africa's service industry remains a mystery: wildly inconsistent, likely still grappling with post-apartheid complexities. Now, the food—worth the hype! 🍗 Portuguese-style grilled chicken: Well-seasoned, fragrant without being greasy. 🐷 "Piggy Sausage" (signature dish): Savory and photogenic, served on an adorable pig-shaped plate—Instagram gold! 🍗 Chicken livers: Rich and bold (for hardcore fans only). 🦐 Seafood & chicken platter: Massive portion, perfect for groups to share over long chats. Great value, hence the packed house! #FoodieFind #SouthAfrica #ExpatLife #SausageLove #PortugueseCuisine #DurbanEats #SeafoodPlatter🐖✨
