East Village J's Kitchen ๐Ÿ”

Just a short walk from home, I decided to head over to J's Kitchen for lunch today. It's always nice to have a go-to spot when you're not sure what to eat! ๐ŸŒŸ ๐ŸŒŠ I ordered the large Matsusaka beef bowl, which came in at around $30.50. For a wagyu dish, the portion size was really generous. The beef was tender and flavorful, served with the classic sweet and savory sauce youโ€™d expect in a Japanese beef bowl. It had that quintessential mild Japanese flavor profile. ๐Ÿ™๏ธThere was a slight grassy note, but overall, it was very comforting and satisfying. ๐Ÿ– I also tried the Japanese-style hamburger steak, which was around $23.80. It came with a sauce similar to ginger burn, which added a nice touch. ๐ŸŽข The dish was enjoyable, but the hamburger was almost entirely raw, which isnโ€™t really my preference. Iโ€™m not a fan of that soft, mushy texture. ๐Ÿ” The service was interesting. The Japanese lady working there was a bit cold at first, but she warmed up and we ended up having a good chat. ๐Ÿƒ Itโ€™s clear she takes pride in her work, and the place has a cozy, homey feel to it. Itโ€™s definitely a spot you can rely on when youโ€™re in the mood for something familiar and comforting. ๐ŸŒธ #NewYork ๐ŸŒ†
