East Village J's Kitchen ๐
Just a short walk from home, I decided to head over to J's Kitchen for lunch today. It's always nice to have a go-to spot when you're not sure what to eat! ๐ ๐ I ordered the large Matsusaka beef bowl, which came in at around $30.50. For a wagyu dish, the portion size was really generous. The beef was tender and flavorful, served with the classic sweet and savory sauce youโd expect in a Japanese beef bowl. It had that quintessential mild Japanese flavor profile. ๐๏ธThere was a slight grassy note, but overall, it was very comforting and satisfying. ๐ I also tried the Japanese-style hamburger steak, which was around $23.80. It came with a sauce similar to ginger burn, which added a nice touch. ๐ข The dish was enjoyable, but the hamburger was almost entirely raw, which isnโt really my preference. Iโm not a fan of that soft, mushy texture. ๐ The service was interesting. The Japanese lady working there was a bit cold at first, but she warmed up and we ended up having a good chat. ๐ Itโs clear she takes pride in her work, and the place has a cozy, homey feel to it. Itโs definitely a spot you can rely on when youโre in the mood for something familiar and comforting. ๐ธ #NewYork ๐
