Edinburgh’s Dazzling Culinary Delight at Lyla
🏴 I never expected to find such a stunning meal in Edinburgh, Scotland, comparable to the Japanese-French fusion at SingleThread! Lyla may not have a 🌟, but it offers fine dining at one-star prices with a two-star experience. The meal spanned three hours with a total of 14 courses, featuring a menu predominantly of matured seafood, not overly rich. 🔹 The three small bites starters were served at the upstairs bar. Each bite was a marvel, distinct in its own right. The Alp Blossom cheese and Blue Fin Tuna were my favorites. The salmon roe and lobster were slightly salty. 🔹 The Cured King Fish with Radish and Umai Caviar was refreshing and appetizing. The perilla flower added an extra layer of delight to the taste buds. 🔹 Scottish Langoustine with burnt Apple was my favorite dish. The langoustine was tender and delicious, with a crispy money thread coating, and the burnt apple paste added a rich, harvest-like flavor. 🔹 The bread was delicious, served with Koji & wild garlic butter. 🔹 Squid with onion, pepper, and dulse was like a river noodle dish, with a sweet and clear broth, reminiscent of a fresh Pho. 🔹 The Wagyu main course came in three forms, the small bite was delicious and rich in texture. The grilled bread with Wagyu was so good, I wanted to lick the plate clean. 🔹 Laganory with Hibiscus and flowered Lavosh was a delightful cheese dish, full of floral and creamy notes, easy to savor. 🔹 The three desserts each had their own charm, and the chocolate was particularly delicious! 🍸 The non-alcoholic pairing was also impressive, creative and refreshing with the use of tea elements and plant fermentation techniques.
