Edinburgh Japanese Gem | Yamato Review š£āØ
Visited 4 times in-store + ordered delivery 5+ times before leaving Edinburgh! (This place gets authentic Japanese approval!) Here are my top picks: š„ Crisp Sushi Roll A sushi-looking but rice-cracker-textured wonder! Perfect combo of š„© + avocado + charred rice - so addictive I could finish the whole plate! š Best dish here by far, and great value (for Yamato's standards). Light eaters could make this a full meal! š Karaage (But Actually Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken?) Not your typical Japanese karaage - tastes identical to amazing Taiwanese salty crispy chicken! šāØ (My Japanese friend confirmed: "Not karaage but still delicious!") My personal #2 must-order! š„© Teppanyaki Beef/Wagyu Japanese-approved as "close to home," though the meat quality differs slightly. My friend preferred this over the chicken - I respectfully disagree š¤ (Team Chicken forever!). š¦ Botan Ebi (Secret Off-Menu Item!) SUPERB sweet shrimp - only available if you're lucky! After eating, they stuff the head with rice and torch it - UNREAL umami bomb š„ (Only complaint: needs more rice!) š Bluefin Tuna Appetizer Delicious sauce! Our only gripe: slices too thin (mostly tasted radish lol). Price justifies it, but thicker cuts would be better! š£ Sashimi Platter Their bluefin tuna is Edinburgh's best (takeout ver.). Salmon was leaner in delivery but perfect in-store. Gold-leaf garnish = insta-worthy šø - but order small; large platter slices are smaller (sad!). PS: Wanted to try uni... next time! šØ Dessert Alert: Ice Cream & Mochi Ice Cream Black sesame = MUST-TRY ā¤ļø (Like frozen tangyuan!). White sesame also great; matchal was meh (but I'm not a matcha person). #EdinburghEats #AuthenticJapanese #SushiLover
