Eel Pizza + Hake Chowder Bread Dip – NYC’s New Carb Heaven! 🍞
Checked out the newly opened Papa San in Hudson Yards with friends! 🍴 It’s a Nikkei (Japanese/Peruvian fusion) spot by the same team behind Llama San and Llama Inn—and honestly, Papa San is the best of the three! 👏🔥 🍕 P1 - Eel Pizza The unanimous MVP of the night! 🏆 The crust isn’t traditional dough—more like a crispy scallion pancake 🥬, topped with sweet-savory teriyaki glaze and scallions. Flavor explosion! 💥 🐟 P2 - Yellowfin Tuna Meh. 😐 Nothing special—skip it. 🍤 P3 - Shrimp Tempura The coconut sauce was actually nice, but since it came first, our tastebuds weren’t ready yet. Felt heavy right away. 😮💨 🍹 P4 - Pisco Sour Refreshing! Worth ordering. 🍸✨ 🍜 P5 - Cacio e Pepe Udon Unnecessary fusion. Hard pass. 🙅♂️ 🐚 P6 - Curry Mussels Served over rice with tofu and shellfish—felt like eating porridge! 🥣 Comforting but not mind-blowing. 🥖 P7 & P8 - Hake Chowder with Milk Bread Okay, rant time: They gave us only 3 breads for 4 people 🧐, and the restaurant refused to add more. 😤 My genius friend suggested tearing the bread into the soup—and BOOM, it turned into a next-level bread-dip situation! 🤯 Alone, the soup was too creamy, but this hack saved it. 🙌 📍 Papa San Verdict: Only the eel pizza was a standout 🌟—everything else was just okay. But the space is gorgeous: bright, spacious, perfect for group hangs! 🎊 If you’re near Hudson Yards, give it a shot, but not worth a special trip. 🚶♂️💨 #NewYork #NYCFood #FoodieAdventures #HiddenGems #NYCEats #NYCLife #EatDrinkExplore #WeekendVibes #CreativeCuisine #FoodDiary
