Egmont | New Plymouth’s “Little Mount Fuji” of the North Island 🏔️
It took my third trip to this city… to finally catch a clear view of this mountain’s true beauty! No more hiding behind clouds—worth the wait, 100% ✨ 📍 Key Location Details - Full Name: Egmont National Park, Mount Taranaki - Navigation Warning : *Critical tip!* There are two main navigation spots—north and south (check the bottom of the map for reference). - North Side: Scenic viewing routes (perfect for photos without hiking!). - South Side: Hiking trails (for those wanting to explore on foot). They’re physically close, but it takes ~1 hour to drive between them—double-check your destination before hitting the road! Don’t waste time going the wrong way like I almost did 😅 ⛅️ Non-Negotiable Prep Tip Check the weather forecast—again and again!** Even if it’s not raining in the city, the mountain’s summit can be covered in thick clouds (I’ve been fooled by this twice!). A cloudy peak means you’ll see *nothing* of the “Little Fuji” shape—patience for a clear day pays off big time! 🏞️ Why It’s Worth the Wait Mount Taranaki’s symmetrical, snow-dusted peak (when clear!) really does look like a mini version of Japan’s Mount Fuji—set against New Zealand’s lush green countryside, it’s a view that feels both familiar and totally unique. Photos are my proof: when the clouds lift, the mountain stands tall, sharp, and absolutely stunning—no filter needed! P.S. New Plymouth itself is such a lovely city—I’ll be sharing a full guide to it soon. Stay tuned if you want to turn this mountain trip into a full city escape! #Travel #TravelGuide #NewZealand #Auckland #NewPlymouth #EgmontNationalPark #Scenery #LittleMountFuji #NZNorthIsland #MountTaranaki
