Eibsee Puppy Hiking Diary 📔

Munich hbf 🚊 Garmisch-Partenkirchen 🚞 Eibsee 🚂 From Munich hbf, there's a train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen every hour and 32 minutes. The journey takes 1.5 hours. For Eibsee, it's recommended to take the cogwheel train, which is very comfortable and offers beautiful scenery along the way (for ticket purchase, the MVV-App is recommended for buying a German monthly ticket, which is very convenient). After arriving at Garmisch-P, exit the station via the underground passage, turn left towards platform 4, and you'll see the Zugspitze sign, which is where you catch the cogwheel train. For purchasing tickets, tell the staff you're going to Eibsee round trip (show your German monthly ticket, it's 4€ one way). The cogwheel train runs hourly, with a train every 15 minutes on the hour. At Grainau station, you'll need to switch to the train on the opposite side and then it's another 15-minute ride to Eibsee. If you plan to go and return in one day, it's best to leave early (ideally, have a late breakfast or early lunch and then depart). This way, you'll have plenty of time for sightseeing and taking photos. The lake circuit hike is very popular, beginner-friendly, and many people bring their dogs for the hike. RoRo had her first hiking experience and was very happy, playing and jumping around. She even played so hard that her clothes came off. However, it's quite crowded with many larger dogs, so it's necessary to keep your dog on a leash at all times. Eibsee is very beautiful, and it's nearly a two-hour journey from Munich. Seeing the lake with such colors is very satisfying.
