El Salvador's Route of Flowers

The Ruta de las Flores is a stretch of road from Sonsonate to Ahuachapan in El Salvador, named for the blooming flowers that cover the area from December to January each year. Traveling from south to north, you'll pass through several small towns: Nahuizalco, Juayua, Apaneca, and Ataco. 🚌 Bus 287 from La Libertad/El Tunco/El Zonte to Sonsonate, with two daily services (6am, 1:30pm). Confirm the times locally and wait by the roadside 15 minutes early. 🚌 Bus 249 from Sonsonate to Ahuachapan, passing through several towns. For Nahuizalco, take the 53D directly; the 249 only passes by the outskirts of the town, and you'll need to transfer to the 53D. Some interesting spots: Juayua: 🌟 Siete Cascadas (Seven Waterfalls), $10-$20. Due to the presence of 🥷🏻, it's best to join a tour. The starting point is a 15-minute drive from town. Guides will lead you to climb the waterfalls, sometimes deliberately going through them, which is very interesting. It feels like the best value tour I've ever joined. The entire route is about 5km with a 200m ascent, wear aqua shoes, and only bring water and a phone, as you will get wet. 🌟 La Feria Gastronomica, a food festival every weekend, offers many grilled meat sets, mostly priced at $3-$10, and the flavors are quite good. Apaneca: 🌟 Laberinto de Apaneca, a maze. Mazes look fun from the outside, but once you're in, you might regret it, and you'll want to use the emergency exit to get out. The maze has two entrances, one for $3 and one for $5, not sure what the difference is. There are also zipline, skybike, and similar activities, each for about $10, not expensive, but there's not much to see. Ataco: Graffiti Nahuizalco: Night market,据说很好玩, but since I stayed in Juayua, I didn't go. Each town has a square and a church, and along the way, there are Coffee Tours, hot springs, and Dune Buggy Tours that you can join according to your preferences. Overall, I liked Siete Cascadas the most; the others didn't have much distinction, and calling it the Route of Flowers might be an exaggeration. Although there weren't any breathtaking views, I was still very happy along the way. The people of El Salvador are very friendly.
