Erewhon Is Finally Opening In NYC—And A Smoothie Will Cost You $43K

Los Angeles’ most luxurious grocery store, Erewhon, is making its long-awaited New York City debut. But before you start budgeting for $20 smoothies and $30 ice cubes–we wish we were kidding about that...we’re not–here’s the catch: this Erewhon NYC outpost will be tucked inside a private West Village members-only club, and just walking in the door comes with a $43,000 price tag. The ultra-trendy (and comically expensive) LA grocer, famous for celebrity-approved drinks like Hailey Bieber’s “Strawberry Glaze Skin” smoothie and Coco Cloud smoothie (which we tried a dupe of), is opening a drinks-only tonic bar at Kith Ivy, a new luxury padel and social club by fashion brand Kith. That means no aisles of overpriced produce or Erewhon merch—just juices and smoothies available exclusively to club members from 7 am to 4 pm. And the membership? It certainly doesn’t come cheap. Kith Ivy charges a $36,000 initiation fee plus $7,000 in annual dues. Which means your Erewhon smoothie in New York will technically cost ya $43,020...or like 10+ rent payments. For those not ready to shell out the equivalent of a luxury car payment for Erewhon access, don’t panic—nonmembers will be able to order Erewhon drinks via Postmates and Uber Eats starting this November, according to *Eater*. The West Village club at 120 Leroy Street will also feature a new restaurant from the Café Mogador team, fitness amenities, and private padel courts. The development hasn’t been without controversy, though—residents have pushed back against the exclusive venue, including organizing “private padel” protests. Still, Erewhon’s first official East Coast outpost is moving forward, marking the grocer’s long-hinted expansion beyond California.
