Exhibition News | Japanese Artists in Indonesia: A Japanese Perspective from East Asia 🌍🎨 Kei Konatsu: Tanah Air Contemporary artist Kei Konatsu (born in 1980 in Yamaguchi, Japan) presents her large-scale solo exhibition "Kei Konatsu: Tanah Air" for the first time from January 11 to March 23, 2025, at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in Hatsudai, Tokyo. 🌟✨ 🌿💧 Konatsu's works integrate a variety of complex and dynamic themes. One of her creative characteristics is collecting images from the internet and other sources, processing them with Photoshop, planning the composition on a computer, and then presenting them on canvas in the form of oil paintings. 🌇✨ In 2017, through an artist-in-residence program, she moved her creative base to Indonesia. This decision became a significant turning point in her artistic career. 🌿💧 The exhibition mainly features new works while also displaying past pieces to trace her creative journey. The vast image system presented in the exhibition includes elements such as environmental issues, eco-feminism, colonialism, and modern problem awareness. 🌍🎨 🌇✨ The exhibition title "Tanah Air" is derived from Indonesian, meaning "earth" and "water" respectively, and together they signify "homeland" (Tanah Air). 🌿💧 #Tokyo 🌇✨
