Explore the Living Museum of Salvador, Bahia

On the 23rd stop of my global journey, I found myself in Salvador, a city in Brazil that's as vibrant as it is historic. Founded in 1549, Salvador is not only the oldest city in Brazil but also arguably the most beautiful. Facing west, the city offers stunning sunsets and evening skies that are a sight to behold. In the winter, you might even catch a glimpse of whales from the higher points in the city. 📍 Church of the Rosary The renowned Rainbow Church is a must-visit for its breathtaking light and color. Be sure to check the opening hours and explore the Liberty Square opposite. 📍 Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador We didn't get a chance to step inside as it's closed between 1-4 PM, but the exterior view from the square is worth a look. 📍 National Palace of El Salvador Unfortunately, it was also closed during our visit. However, the colorful Salvador sign at the entrance makes for an excellent photo opportunity. 📍 National Library of El Salvador Across the square, you'll find the National Library, a gift from China. The architecture is impressive, and many locals come here to relax and enjoy the cool air. You can also take an elevator to the top for a panoramic view of the city. 📍 Somasca El Calvario Church Heading west, you'll come across this church surrounded by bustling markets. It's a sensory experience that immerses you in the local flavor. 🚗 Transportation Taxis are readily available. Right outside the airport is a plaza for pick-ups. The city center is quite a drive, about an hour, and costs around 20 dollars one way... 🧳 Luggage Storage With carry-on luggage from my layover, I didn't want to wander with my bags. So, I asked a restaurant across from the library if they could store them while I had a meal. The locals were incredibly warm and helpful with my luggage. Many ask what's the point of visiting such a niche country, but it's only by coming here that you can truly experience the uniqueness each nation offers. May our lives be all about the experiences. ☀️ #TravelDiary #GlobalJourney #OneClickTravelGuide #BrazilTravelShare
