Exploring Fukuoka - Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine ๐
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Fukuoka is like China's "Confucius Temple." ๐๏ธ ๐ข๐ From Hakata Central Station, take the bus from platform 11. It takes about 40 minutes to reach Dazaifu Station. ๐ธ๐As soon as you get off, you'll see the entrance to the Omotesando. ๐ The Starbucks on Omotesando was designed by the famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. It combines modern and traditional elements, using lots of wood. The wooden frames and supports give it a warm, natural feel. ๐ณโ๏ธ ๐ข๐ The local snacks on Omotesando, like plum branch cakes and red bean glutinous rice balls, are pretty average. ๐ธ๐ The torii is a symbol of sacred places and is usually at the entrance of a shrine. Next up is the bronze ox. It's said that patting the ox's head can bring wisdom. ๐ฎ ๐ข๐ Cross the Taiko Bridge, and you'll reach the holiest part of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine - the Honden, where Sugawara Michizane is enshrined. ๐บ Behind the Honden is a garden, followed by the red torii gate - perfect for photos ๐ธ. ๐ธ๐ Follow the winding path along the torii, and you'll arrive at the quiet Tenkai Inari Shrine. If you want to pray, ring one of the 12 zodiac animal bells. ๐ข๐ Dazaifu is pretty small. An hour is enough to explore. Just keep an eye on the bus schedule back to Hakata - buses run every 15 - 20 minutes. ๐ #ArtisticStructures #TheMeaningOfLife ๐ฟ
