Exploring Izakaya Toribar: A Cozy Yakitori Spot in New York π
Izakaya Toribar is a charming little Japanese yakitori joint with an industrial vibe. The decor is simple and cozy, and the small, semi-basement-style space features an open kitchen. You can watch the chefs expertly grilling skewers, making it a delightful dining experience. The value for money here is fantastic, and they open for dinner at 5 PM every day. Dining alone, I spent around $80. π Tako Wasabi π€ - $9.00 Octopus with wasabi β I absolutely loved this appetizer! The crisp octopus paired with the zesty wasabi is incredibly refreshing and satisfying. The portion of octopus is generous, making it a standout dish! π€ Yakitori (Grilled Skewers) π When I visited, some items like chicken wings were unavailable. You can choose between sea salt or tare (sweet teriyaki) seasoning for the skewers. Every skewer is perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of saltiness and flavor. The meat skewers are all delicious, with amazing textures β truly authentic Japanese yakitori! Highly recommend the chicken meatballs! π Tsukune Meatball - $4.50 Hatsu Heart - $3.50 Short Rib - $10.00 Mochi Wrapped Pork Belly - $6.00 Enoki Wrapped Pork Belly - $7.00 Thigh with Yuzukosho - $3.95 Thigh with Scallion - $3.95 Kushikatsu (Deep-Fried Skewers) π€ I ordered scallops, chicken breast, sausage, meatballs, and quail eggs. The kushikatsu here is exceptional β the outer coating is thin and crispy, unlike some places that have a hard, grainy texture. The fried chicken meatballs are especially recommended β crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delightful aroma! π€ Kushikatsu Chicken Breast - $3.95 Kushikatsu Meatball - $2.50 Kushikatsu Sausage - $2.50 Kushikatsu Scallop - $4.50 Kushikatsu Quail Eggs - $3.50 π Izakaya Toribar 164 E 56th St, New York, NY 10022 π #NYCEatingAdventures #NewYork #YakitoriHeaven π
