Exploring One of the World's Largest Slums 🌍🏚️

Today I stepped into Korail Basti, one of the world's largest slums and home to Dhaka's army of rickshaw pullers. What struck me first was the organized chaos 🤯 - narrow alleyways buzzing with life like a beehive 🐝, makeshift shops selling everything from vegetables to mobile chargers 📱, and the constant hum of generators powering this improvised city. The resilience here is breathtaking 💪. Women cook meals on open fires while balancing babies on their hips , men repair rickshaws with ingenious makeshift tools 🛠️, and children in tattered uniforms somehow find space to play cricket between the shanties ⚾. I watched a barber giving haircuts using a car mirror ✂️, while next door a tailor operated a sewing machine powered by car battery - the ultimate in slum innovation . What moved me most was the dignity amidst hardship . At a tiny tea stall , I met 65-year-old Abdul who's pulled a rickshaw for 40 years 🚲. "This is my home," he said proudly, showing me photos of his grandchildren attending the community school 📚. Nearby, giggling kids 🤣 chased bubbles from a street vendor's soap solution - pure joy needing no expensive toys 🎈.
