Exploring Pittsburgh for Just $7 🚠✨

One thing you can’t miss in Pittsburgh is riding an incline up the mountain! I took the light rail across the river and got off at the first stop — Station Square. Right across the street is the Mon Incline. There wasn’t much of a crowd, so I walked right onto the cable car without waiting. 🚡 Each car has a capacity: the first fits 7 people, the other two fit 8 each. With fewer riders, it’s mostly based on self-policing. At the top, you can tap your Day Pass to pay 💳. Right at the exit, there’s a sign for ice cream — but be careful! 🍦 This place is pricey and only accepts cash. I got a plain cone, but unless you’re feeling fancy, maybe skip it. For reference: a medium waffle cone costs $10.50 😬. From there, I walked toward Point State Park 🍃 and even passed a wedding ceremony along the way! 💒 Then I reached the Duquesne Incline — much more crowded here. Two lines led to different cable cars. The walls display historical info, and there’s also a small museum downstairs where you can see the cable mechanisms in action. It’s worth a visit! If you’re with friends, take turns watching the line and checking out the exhibit. Staff here strictly monitor how many people board. Good news — this station sells $2 ice cream. Totally worth it! ✅ You pay when going downhill here. At the bottom, there’s a bus stop right across — you can hop on a bus downtown or transfer back to the light rail. 🚍 Also worth noting: The river cruise 🛥️ costs $30 per person (1 hour) and must be booked at least one day ahead. Sold out often in peak season! One day is a bit rushed — Pittsburgh deserves at least two! 💙 As of June 17, the Red Line light rail is under maintenance and replaced by buses. Blue and Silver Lines are running normally. #PittsburghTravel #BudgetTravel #InclineRide #DuquesneIncline #TravelTips #PublicTransport #VisitPA 🏙️🧳
