Continuing the series on Japanese hot springs, today's 6th installment will explore the hot springs in Japan that are renowned for their impressive architecture. The hot springs listed below have excellent water quality, and their buildings are mostly registered as "Japanese Tangible Cultural Properties" (the highest level is National Treasures, such as the Great Buddha Hall of Todaiji Temple in Nara, which requires special protection). Hayama Kachi Tei, designed by Endo in 1928, was refurbished in 2020 and opened to the public as a hot spring hotel.
