Finally, the New York Baguette Champion’s Dinner Is Open! 🥖
I won’t talk about Crispy Heaven’s brunch today. It’s located at 222 Lafayette Street, next to Jack’s Wife Freda. If you see a cart full of bread, congratulations! You’ve found a hidden gem for traditional European brunch in New York. I’ve written about it several times before. The bread for brunch is made using traditional family recipes from the owner’s Czech homeland. This place also holds the title of the 2024 Baguette Champion 🏆. This is my third time eating their dinner (open on Thursdays and Fridays)! It’s also my first time since they reopened (they’re still waiting for their wine license). I don’t often eat pizza🍕, but besides BK’s Roberta’s Pizza, Crispy Heaven’s homemade tomato sauce is super fresh and light. Look at the crust in Figure 6—it’s like a spider web 🕸️. It’s amazing! The name truly lives up to its reputation. I ordered the Marinara, which features tomato sauce as the star, and it was very satisfying. I highly recommend their Margherita Burrata, which is also delicious. The Bohemian-style spicy beef tacos are great too—they’re fun to eat! The purple tortillas are soft and chewy.🌟 For appetizers, I loved the seabass ceviche and grilled leeks! They were really tasty. The grilled leeks had a sweet taste with a hint of spiciness. The combination of the bitter-sour orange slices and sweetness was delightful. The seabass ceviche had very bouncy fish meat. We finished two baskets of bread, which included slices of their raisin walnut roll and baguette.🤤 For dessert, I had the tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is homemade, with a very rich and creamy dairy flavor (I haven’t had anything more creamy on the island of Manhattan…). It was very sweet, but because of the intense dairy flavor, I was able to finish it at brunch. It was truly sweet without being cloying.😋 #WhereIveBeenThisWeek #food #NYCFoodie #brunch #HiddenGemRestaurants #NYCPizza #EuropeanCuisine #NYCSoho #CrispyHeaven #FoodieDiary #PolishCuisine #NYCBakery
