Finally Has a 3-Michelin-Star Restaurant Where Food Becomes Art 🎨✨

Somni is Los Angeles' incredibly creative and artistic new 3-Michelin-star restaurant—and I was thrilled to experience it ahead of the curve! Guests sit at the chef's counter and witness the entire cooking process up close, while the servers actively participate in preparing the dishes and engaging in conversation. Only 14 guests per night are accommodated in the main dining area, plus an additional 6 in a private room. Reservations need to be made at least one month in advance. The menu, crafted by Chef Aitor Zabala, beautifully blends Spanish traditions with California’s local ingredients. It changes seasonally, and within less than half a year since reopening, half the dishes have already been refreshed! 🍽️🌿 Starters & Bites: • Parmesan Feather: An artwork-like crisp Parmesan feather filled with coffee-lemon cream—light, salty, and utterly delicate. • Monstera: Monstera leaf-shaped potato crisps filled with anchovy cream and Swiss cheese sauce—a perfect balance of savory and creamy with a subtle oily fragrance. Creative Mains: • Dashi & Caviar: A star dish! A fish-shaped meringue made from 24-hour dashi broth, topped with smoked butter, seaweed powder, golden Osetra caviar, and dusted with lemon and rosemary powder. A true umami explosion! 💥 • Sardine: Salt-and-sugar-cured Japanese sardine placed on a fish-shaped crisp with a cheesy undertone. • Shiso Tartare: Japanese A5 wagyu wrapped like a tempura bouquet—both visually stunning and deeply flavorful. • Spanish Turbot: Dry-aged for 5 days, then steamed and grilled, served with red pepper sauce and smoked fish bone broth—rich Mediterranean vibes. Desserts: • Cow & Her Milk: A cow-shaped cookie hiding French cream cheese, paired with vanilla-apple puree and roasted hazelnuts—sweet and savory in harmony. • Piña Colada: Coconut cream foam covering fermented pineapple juice and caramel, with a hint of rum aroma. 🍍 • Sweet Little Things: Chocolate-shell madeleines, jam-filled donuts, and semi-dehydrated berry fudge—a feast for both the eyes and palate. Menu Options: • Classic Tasting Menu: $645, served with creative non-alcoholic pairings. • Wine Pairing: $725, featuring Spanish Rioja and California cult wines. Important Notes: 1. No menu adjustments are currently available. Those with food allergies should confirm in advance. 2. The $500 per person deposit has a limited refund window. Changes are not permitted close to the dining date. 3. The private room for 6 offers the same menu but with a more exclusive “Calafia” wine list. 4. Be prepared for a 4-hour dining experience—it’s a journey! ⏳🍷 Have you been to Somni or another Michelin-starred restaurant in LA? What was your most memorable dish?
