Flew all the way to Portugal for this sea-view Michelin restaurant
🍽 CASA DE CHA DA BOA NOVA ⭐️⭐️ 📍 Located 30 minutes’ drive from Porto, Portugal, by the sea 🏠 The restaurant was once the famous Boa Nova Tea House, a 1963 masterpiece by the architect Siza, now transformed into a two-Michelin-starred restaurant 😃 A few days ago, I saw my favorite couple, Yang Youning and Melinda, they went there too, and we even sat at the same table! What a coincidence! This two-Michelin-starred restaurant offers a set menu with up to 21 courses, taking over 4 hours to enjoy. The entire dining experience is less about eating and more about a culinary journey of Portuguese navigation. The menu is themed around navigation, featuring an array of ocean-inspired tableware (🐟, 🛶, 🦀). Before each course, you’re shown a comic strip to understand the food culture and origins of Portugal, followed by the dish being prepared right in front of you, giving you an immersive feeling. My favorite dish has to be the Scarlet Shrimp in the second picture. The sauce is so flavorful, the head is fresh, but the meat is tender, with a multi-layered texture. The biggest surprise was being invited to tour the kitchen of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant, where we had with the Chef and ate Basque cake. Look out for the detailed video in my next post! It’s totally worth coming to beautiful Porto, Portugal, for this Michelin experience. I must say, the journey is quite far. Opening Google Maps, I realized we were really eating on the edge of the Atlantic, on the rocks. It’s like we’ve chased the food to the ends of the earth. #Portugal #PortugalTravel #Porto #PortoFood #PortoTravel #PortoMichelin #PortugalMichelin #Michelin #Siza #YangYouning
