Food Review | VA Beach Restaurant Recommendations & Avoidances
Spent Labor Day relaxing at Virginia Beach~ 🏖️ The sand is soft, and the water may not be the bluest but was warm enough for swimming! Plus, many hotels are oceanfront, so you can watch the sunrise right from your balcony—absolutely amazing! 🌅 During my stay, I tried several restaurants—here’s my take for reference: 🍽️ Commune Fresh ingredients and healthy cooking~ Located in a local neighborhood (not by the beach). Offers outdoor seating, but wait times are long, and service is slow—took nearly 30 minutes from sitting down to getting our food. The food was just okay, nothing spectacular, but their drinks were delicious! 🥤 🍽️ Captain George's Seafood Restaurant Ordered a seafood platter—huge portions, great value, fresh ingredients, and flavorful! I loved this place! 🦀🦞 🍽️ Big Sam's Inlet Cafe & Raw Bar A very local seafood spot—most customers were regulars, and we might have been the only tourists that night! Their raw bar serves oysters—a bit small but tasty. An elderly gentleman even recommended dishes to us—seemed like he’d tried everything on the menu! You can’t go wrong ordering anything here. Highly recommend! 🦪 🍽️ Judy's Sichuan Cuisine Tried this Sichuan restaurant—their Mao Xue Wang (blood curd stew) and hot and sour noodles were decent, with generous portions and affordable prices. However, the flavors weren’t mind-blowing—just average Chinese food. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by great Chinese restaurants in NJ, but this one didn’t stand out. Verdict: For VA Beach, opting for local spots over touristy ones is a smart move! 😊 #VirginiaBeach #VirginiaFood #VA #DMVEats #DMVDayTrip 🍴🌟
