Foodie Adventures in Amsterdam: What I Ate 🇳🇱
🍖 The Pantry “Might as well try traditional Dutch food while we’re here!” Known as a culinary wasteland, but this spot surprised us! We ordered: Dutch-style pork knuckle + Stamppot (3-color mashed potatoes with meatballs/sausage) The knuckle was incredibly tender and flavorful. The stamppot was uniquely delicious — especially the sauerkraut mash! 📌 Book a week ahead or come off-peak | 💰 €25 per person — great value! 🦞 The Seafood Bar A popular chain — we went to the one near the Van Gogh Museum. Highlights: €92 seafood tower (grilled on top, raw on the bottom) Fresh, generous portions — highly recommended! 🍜 Huanghe Lanzhou Beef Noodles “So good it made us applaud!” Unbelievably flavorful — perhaps even better than some versions in China! Fried noodles: deeply infused with savory sauce Beef noodle soup: rich, aromatic broth Comes with a marinated egg and side dish — a must-visit! 🐟 BuitenHolf Sterring Stoll (The Hague) “Don’t be scared by ‘herring’ — it’s delicious!” A Dutch classic: raw herring + fried fish bites. No fishy taste — fresh like sashimi! Eat with bread for the full experience. 📌 Also available at stalls across Amsterdam. 🥞 Dutch Pancake Master “Dutch pancakes: like French crêpes’ quirky cousin.” Located near Amsterdam Central — fancy decor, decent taste, but a bit pricey. Many cheaper alternatives around town. 🍳 Omelegg A brunch spot with long queues. Tried the avocado and croissant omelets — eggs were well-made, but maybe not worth a long wait. Proceed based on your patience level! 🍯 Hans Egstorf “The real deal in Dutch pastries.” No chocolate or fruit here — only traditional caramel-filled stroopwafels. You can watch them being made fresh in the Nine Streets area. Highly recommended! 🍟 Manneken Pis A famous fries stand near Amsterdam Central. €7 for a huge portion + dozens of sauce options… But honestly — it’s just fries. Save room for something else! 🔖 On My List for Next Time Pesca Seafood – No-menu seafood market (a bit far) Winkel 43 – Legendary apple pie (also a bit far) De Blauwe Restaurant – Traditional Dutch (right across from The Pantry) Let me know if you’ve been! #AmsterdamFood #DutchCuisine #NetherlandsTravel #FoodGuide
