France | Sacré-Cœur Basilica 🕍
The first church I visited in Paris was the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, located on the highest point of Paris, Montmartre Hill. I showed my Paris Museum Pass and walked right in; it was probably late afternoon, and many people were standing outside watching the sunset 🌇. There weren't too many people lining up to visit. After the visit, I descended from the square in front of the basilica as shown in the picture, and there was a lift-like funicular that took me directly down below. Opening Hours: Sometimes it's open until 10:00 PM, so this place is actually quite suitable for coming to watch the sunset and the night view in the evening. There are many tourists on the steps, sitting in groups of three or five, chatting or listening to music, very relaxing. It could also be people living in the city of Paris coming over for a leisurely stroll. The Sacré-Cœur Basilica is located on Montmartre Hill in Paris. The church has a unique architectural style, resembling both Romanesque and Byzantine styles. The bell tower is square inside, with a large bell called the Savoyarde Bell, weighing 19 tons, which is one of the world's famous bells. The church has three arched doors. Above the doors, there are two statues of riders, one is King Saint Louis, and the other is the French national heroine Joan of Arc. It began construction in 1876 and was completed in 1919, built with donations from faithful believers across France. Inside the church, there are many reliefs, murals, and mosaics. This place is particularly attractive because of the Montmartre Square, which is the most artistically distinctive place in Paris. At some point, it became an open-air grand studio where many young painters sketch. 🏛️Its pure white dome has a unique style combining Romanesque and Byzantine styles. Around the large dome are four smaller domes, which have a Middle Eastern flavor. At the back of the church is a square bell tower 84 meters high, containing the world's largest Savoyarde Bell, weighing 19 tons, one of the largest bells in the world. The front of the church has three arched doors, and on either side of the large dome are two equestrian statues: King Saint Louis of France and the national heroine Joan of Arc. #UnforgettableLandscapes #BasiliqueduSacreCoeur #sacrecoeur #MontmartreHil#France #Paris #Montmartre
