Free Admission to the National Archaeological Museum on Sundays
The Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, now home to the French National Archaeological Museum, was established in 1867. The museum houses an extensive collection of archaeological artifacts from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, making it a valuable resource for understanding the ancient history of France and Europe. On the first Sunday of each month, most museums offer free entry. Last Sunday, I happened to visit the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and there was no queue at all. There were beautiful tulips and a fountain in front of the castle, but I didn't take photos due to the bad weather. Walking through this castle, rebuilt by Francis I in the 16th century, it was the royal residence until Louis XIV abandoned the "new castle" in 1682 to have Versailles Palace built. Since 1862, this magnificent historical monument has been the National Archaeological Museum, gathering ancient masterpieces of the Celts and Gauls from the Paleolithic period to the early Middle Ages—3 million artifacts, including 30,000 exhibits on display. 🚊 RER A or T13 #Paris #France #Recommendation #CulturalAttractionSharing #GoodPlaceToGo #DayTrip #LocalFun #ParisCheckIn #ParisAttractions #ParisMonuments #LifeSnippets #FrenchCastles #Castles #Family #FamilyOutingIdeas
