Ghent's Must-Try Restaurants That Will Leave You Spellbound

I have to say, Belgium is just too delicious! I didn't find the food particularly satisfying in the Netherlands, but ever since I arrived Gh inent, Belgium, every restaurant I've tried has been a hit. The rich butter and cheese are so fragrant that they've completely captivated me. Here are some tried-and-true recommendations that won't disappoint. 、 1️⃣ Je m’en fish (Ghent's Little Seafood Spot) • The first restaurant that popped up on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) for Ghent's food scene is a small and charming seafood place. The portions are relatively small, perfect for ordering a variety of dishes. This time, we had buttered razor clams, mussels laksa, seafood stew, fish cakes, and an oyster trio, and none of them were a letdown. When we were paying the bill, I couldn't help but glance at the other dishes being served, and they all looked so delicious. It's a pity that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. 🤪 • Average cost per person: €47.5 2️⃣ Olivier (French Cuisine) • This is the French restaurant inside the Pillows hotel. The ambiance and the dishes are both exceptional. The pre-meal bread and crispy crackers paired with the rich, creamy sauce were simply divine, melting in the mouth. For starters, we had oysters and beef tartare. The main courses were flounder and another type of fish I can't name, both of which were very aromatic. To add some vegetables, we also ordered a salad, which was huge and mixed with pine nuts, adding even more flavor. The waiter recommended a small sweet wine, which was really good. I checked on Taobao, but unfortunately, it's not available for sale there. What a pity. • Average cost per person: €75 3️⃣ Mogador (Moroccan Cuisine) • This restaurant is located next to the Belfry and St. Nicholas' Church. We originally planned to go to Passion based on a guidebook, but when we arrived at noon, it was closed. So, we turned into this corner shop instead. The restaurant doesn't have an English menu, but with the help of Google Translate and the owner's introduction, we managed to choose a few dishes, all of which were quite tasty. For starters, we had the soup of the day and chef's stewed shrimp. Dipping the bread into the soup was pure bliss. For the main course, we had a tagine chicken pot with asparagus and a fish pie. After a satisfying meal, we were ready to continue our city walk in the afternoon. 🤗 • Average cost per person: €36🤓 In my opinion, the flavors of all the dishes tend to be a bit salty and heavy, which perfectly suits my northern Chinese taste buds. In fact, many of the restaurants in the old town center are packed with people and seem to be very popular with the locals. So, why not put away the guidebook and just walk into any place? You might be in for a delightful surprise.🤗 #GhentTravel #GhentFood #FoodRecommendations #Belgium #BelgiumTravel
