Glasgow's Super Authentic Scottish Restaurant

I took a trip to Scotland during the holiday and unexpectedly had the best Scottish cuisine of my life at a seemingly inconspicuous restaurant in Glasgow! This establishment was founded in 1870 and has been around for over a century. Both the interior decoration and the service from the staff exude a vintage yet cozy atmosphere. Despite its long history, the dishes are incredibly innovative and unique! Scallops & Samphire ★★★★★ I ordered this Scottish pan-fried scallops as a starter, and although they were small, each one was cooked to perfection—so tender it almost melts in your mouth! The accompanying vegetables were also delicious. The salt grains on the scallops were a bit salty, but it didn't detract from their deliciousness! Chicken & Haggis ★★★★★ Haggis is a very classic Scottish dish, but their preparation was very innovative! Unlike the traditional heavy texture of Haggis I've had elsewhere, theirs was wrapped in very tender chicken meat with minced sheep's organs, not at all fishy or dry. Paired with their special sauce, it's definitely worth a try! Highland Venison ★★★★★ This was our first time trying venison, and it was surprisingly amazing! It didn't have the gamey or dry texture we expected, but was instead tender and juicy. Paired with a sweet and sour plum sauce, it took our taste buds to another level! If you haven't tried venison, you must give it a try! Not only that, but the accompanying cheese-baked potatoes were also very tasty! Mille Feuille ★★★★★ The previous dishes had already left me very satisfied with their offerings, but this dessert brought the meal to the most perfect end. The pastry was excellently done, with just the right amount of crispiness, paired with lemon coconut custard and passion fruit mousse, the whole dish was not overly sweet, but rather sweet and sour, very refreshing! Even those who are afraid of sweetness can order with confidence! Average cost per person | £50 In addition to the above, we also ordered a slow-cooked pork cheek as a starter, which was also good! But it didn't amaze me as much as the other dishes, so I won't elaborate. If you want to try it, you can order it too! You can order anything from their menu without any regrets! Overall, although the restaurant is a bit pricey, the taste is on par with some Michelin-starred restaurants. It's definitely a very worthwhile experience! And there's no service charge for parties of five or less!!! #UK #LifeInUK #Scotland #ScottishRestaurant #ScottishCuisine #Glasgow #HiddenGemRestaurant #FoodDaily
