Gulbenkian Museum & Lisbon
🚩 Recently, I discovered that my notes from before June this year were mysteriously hidden away, so I’ve decided to repost some that are worth documenting as a record of my personal travels last semester. The following are previous posts. 🌟Visited this Lisbon museum in a light drizzle, not even sure where I first saw it mentioned, but it far exceeded my expectations. The exhibits are a collection of artworks from around the world that Gulbenkian acquired over his lifetime, ranging from the East to the West. What amazed me was Rembrandt’s Athena in picture five. I used this painting as my profile picture for a long time many years ago, but I never knew it was a Rembrandt, let alone that it was in Lisbon, housed in this museum that blends Brutalist architecture with a Japanese aesthetic. 🌟This is perhaps one of the meanings of travel and the existence of museums. Each trip, especially when wandering the streets alone and freely, always reveals those unique anchor points of personal memory. When one’s memories are rich enough to seep like a stream into the cracks of reality and history, how could one feel lonely? One might even feel that others outside oneself are rocks that hinder the flow. #Museum #Lisbon #CulturalAttractions #GulbenkianMuseum #OffTheBeatenPath #Portugal
