📍 Locations: Sachsenwald (East of Hamburg) Segeberger Forst (North, reachable by S2 train) OMG. SO. MANY. PORCINIS. 😱🍄✨ My first year in Germany, I stumbled into the forest out of curiosity—AND FOUND THEIR SECRET KINGDOM! I was literally screaming with joy while picking them. BASKET-BURSTING LEVELS OF HAPPINESS!!! 🔍 Mushroom-Hunting Strategy: 1️⃣ Go deep into the forest – away from paths. 2️⃣ Look for lone, raised mounds – where there’s one, there’s usually MANY! (Our jackpot spot started with a single mushroom… then BOOM, they were everywhere!) 3️⃣ Tap test: Fresh & firm = "Dududu" sound (✅ PERFECT!) Soft/squishy = 🚫 rotten 🌿 Why It’s Magical: Golden sunlight filtering through trees, deer 🦌 hopping by, zero dangerous animals (no bears 🐻, no wolves 🐺—just frogs 🐸 and birds!). RAINBOW OF MUSHROOMS – red, orange, purple, even electric blue! Every fungus is a tiny ecosystem artist. 🎨 Total forest therapy – you’ll leave feeling like a tree (in the best way). 🌳💚 ⚠️ Pro Tips: Bring a basket + pocket knife. Check local foraging laws (some areas restrict picking). Avoid toxic look-alikes – when in doubt, don’t eat it! RUN, DON’T WALK!
