🌟 Hidden Paris: Following the Romantic Master Delacroix 🎨❤️

In Paris, it’s always a delightful surprise to encounter Delacroix—whether at the Louvre (how many come just for Liberty Leading the People?), the Orsay, various churches, or even during Heritage Day visits to the Sénat... This year, after seeing The Death of Sardanapalus at the Louvre, I became somewhat enchanted. 🖼️✨ So, I decided to trace the steps of this French Romantic master on a day trip in Paris. I started with a visit to the Delacroix Museum, followed by a stop at the Church of Saint-Sulpice to see the three murals he created. The itinerary was wonderfully relaxed—what a perfect city walk! 🚶‍♀️🌸 🧑‍🎨 Musée National Eugène Delacroix The Delacroix National Museum is actually the last residence and studio of Delacroix (1798-1863). Tucked away on a quiet street in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, it might just look like an elegant residential building to passersby. The artist moved here at the end of 1857 to complete the decorative work for the Church of Saint-Sulpice. The museum is small and the collection isn’t extensive, but I think of it as a delightful “supplement” to the Louvre. Standing before portraits of the artist, his palette, and the works of others, I imagined what it must have been like when he created his masterpieces. It was a rainy day during my visit, and the studio walls were painted a vibrant red, reminiscent of The Death of Sardanapalus—so romantic and intense! Stepping outside into the little garden, I was greeted by fresh, elegant greens. You can easily finish the visit in under an hour, and the small gift shop had a lovely selection. I even found my favorite bookmark (the original is in the Louvre), which made me very happy! 😊📚 #ParisLife #ParisMuseums #MustVisitMuseums #Romanticism #Delacroix #ChroniclerOfRomanticLife #ArtExhibitions #Churches #Art #Aesthetics
