Hiking Adventure: Getting Rained On & Spotting Deer (1)ππ¦
The keywords for this hike were getting rained on and spotting deer. π§οΈπ¦ ππΈ This year's first hike was the Pine Swamp Mountain and Hogencamp Mountain Loop in Harriman State Park. According to AllTrails, it's a 5.1-mile loop that takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes. However, the trail was quite rocky, which slowed us down (maybe we were just out of practice). Plus, we had to dodge some rain. ππΈ In the end, we actually hiked 5.7 miles and spent 4.5 hours on the trail, including a 30-minute break for a picnic. It was the first day of a long weekend, and the forecast showed overcast skies, but we encountered a downpour on a small section of the trail. After the rain, we were greeted by bright sunshineβit was such a magical feeling. Later on, there was a light drizzle. ππΈMy hiking partner and I didn't have waterproof jackets or umbrellas. We set off hoping for the best. As it turned out, it rained on and off during the first half of the hike, sometimes quite heavily. Most of it was sun showers. Fortunately, the dense forest provided shelter from much of the rain, and we didn't get too wet. ππΈA few sections of the trail were flooded, but there were stones and logs to step on. Overall, it was a bit of a messy but fun adventure. #NewYork π½π
