Hiking Minnewaska State Park! Route Sharing(2) ๐
Walking from Gertrude's Nose to MM was truly the worst decision we made. ๐ข๐ The MM route (marked in red in the last picture) is extremely difficult. It's mostly a rocky path, and I personally didn't find the scenery along the way to be very appealing. ๐ธThere are some spots that are a bit dangerous too. You really need to learn how to read the park's map. The trail conditions are indicated by dots, and I found the path to be very challenging. ๐ข๐We arrived at the park at 9:30 a.m., and I had navigated to Minnewaska State Park Preserve (5281 Route 44 - 55, Kerhonkson, NY 12446). When we got there, the upper parking lot was already full, and the staff by the road directed us to the lower parking lot. This is the least convenient one, as it requires a much longer walk. ๐ข๐ I'm not sure if you can directly navigate to the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center, which also has a parking lot and is much closer to the lake. ๐ธThat's where we waited for our friends to pick us up on our way back. The only regret this time was not being able to visit Sam's Point. I booked parking tickets five days in advance, but they were already sold out. If you plan to visit Sam's Point on the weekend, make sure to book your tickets well in advance, especially during the peak season. ๐ข๐ If you're planning to hike this trail with your family, including elderly members or young children, and you're considering the MM route, think twice! No, think thrice! It's not suitable for the elderly or very young kids. However, slightly older children might be able to manage it. ๐ธ #HikingForAutumnScenery ๐
