How to Enjoy a Last-Minute Two-Day Budget Trip to Pittsburgh?
Accommodation 🏡 "Stay Pittsburgh" in downtown offers a living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and six beds. It was very spacious for just the two of us. Total for two nights: $233. Transportation 🚌 Download the "Ready2Ride" app to take buses and subways. A 3-hour pass costs $2.75, and a day pass is $7. You can also use the ride code to take the Duquesne Incline cable car for free (normally $5 round-trip with cash). Don’t pay extra when you go! Food Cafe Milano (Google 4.3⭐) A random pizza place we tried. We ordered a pineapple chicken pizza 🍕—even the smallest size was too much for two. Taste: 7/10. The pineapple was fresh. La Gourmandine French Bakery (4.8⭐) Lots of desserts 🍮 and breads 🥖. The Frappuccino was great. Perfect for resting while waiting for hotel check-in. Took Took 98 Thai Restaurant (4.4⭐) Highly recommended by many. The Thai milk tea instantly brought back memories of Thailand 🍹. The signature crab fried rice was delicious, but the Pad Thai was just okay—a bit sour and smelled funky (though it tasted fine). Would like to try the Tom Yum noodles next time. Chaykhana Pittsburgh Uzbek Restaurant (4.8⭐ - highly recommended!) A beef Samosa ($4) was larger than my palm 🤲. The crust was soft and chewy, and the filling was generous—absolute bliss with every bite. Their signature Lagman was sold out, so we tried the lamb soup instead 🍖. The lamb leg was tender and flavorful—the meat fell off the bone. The thin noodles at the bottom paired perfectly with the broth. It’s been a while since I had such delicious noodles! The Lamb Shank was also fork-tender but had a stronger flavor than the soup. Served with fries, it felt a bit Americanized. Attractions 🗼 Duquesne Incline red wooden cable car 🚠 is the top recommendation. Going up at dusk offers panoramic views of the city both day and night 🌆. The scenery is stunning. Steel Tower and Glass Tower The all-steel Steel Tower feels retro and solid—touch it for an icy-cool sensation ❄️. The Glass Tower is modern, bright, and transparent from afar—beautifully designed. Point State Park Underwhelming—the fountain wasn’t even on ⛲. Avoid walking on the grass! We realized too late that it was full of dog poop 💩, even on the paths. Very unpleasant. University of Pittsburgh - Cathedral of Learning Library The Gothic architecture is unique and grand, giving off Harry Potter vibes 🏰. Worth a visit! Take the elevator to the 35th floor—each floor represents a different school (though they’re all small). You can enjoy views of the surroundings. Carnegie Mellon University Quite beautiful. We visited the Electrical Engineering building (reference architecture for SYSU EE) and saw the "Send You to Heaven" abstract artwork. #Pittsburgh #TravelGuide #FoodDiary
