I'm in London and had delicious Portuguese food.
Tomato Red Prawns, Gambas Piri Piri 🦐 £12 The red prawns are so alluring in color. The prawn meat is tender, smooth, and springy. The texture is like medium-rare, but actually, it's fully cooked inside. The cooking time is perfectly controlled. Sucking in a mouthful of the mixture of the prawn brains and the sauce is so fresh! Especially the sauce, it's so delicious that you can finish it by dipping bread in it. However, some friends who are more sensitive to the taste of seafood have said that it's a bit fishy, but personally, I think it's okay. Crispy Squid Rings, Calamares🦑 £9.5 The MVP of the whole meal! We even ordered an extra portion later! Instead of the usual breadcrumbs coating, it has a really thin and crispy batter that crumbles off easily. The squid meat inside is extremely tender, which completely overturns the impression I used to have of chewy squid. Paired with lemon juice and mayonnaise, it's really, really delicious! It's a must-order dish. Seafood Lobster Tomato Stew Rice, Arroz Marisco🦞 £42.5 It's a huge pot of stewed rice! Enough for four people to eat! Unlike Spanish paella, this one is soaked in soup, and it's quite similar to the hot rice sold at snack streets in China. The waitress gently stirred it a couple of times to show the abundant ingredients inside: half a lobster, lobster claws, sea prawns, mussels, and plenty of squid rings. The rice is fully cooked and easy to eat. You can just gobble it up with the soup. Ribeye Steak with Sweet Potato Fries with Plum Powder Bife Olho ➕ Batata Doce 🥩 £24.5 Come to a Portuguese restaurant and try the steak. The ribeye is Medium Rare, which is a bit too tender for me. It's juicy with every bite, and the quality is really good. There's not much to say. Besides, the sweet potato fries with plum powder are also incredibly crispy. The sweet potato fries are sweet. Roasted Suckling Pig with Orange, Leitão Bairrada 🐖 £28.5 The pig skin is extremely flavorful and not at all tough. You can taste the gelatinous and delicious skin. The pork has no gamy smell at all. Paired with the gravy, you can really understand the joy of eating meat in big mouthfuls! The seasoning is nothing special. It all depends on the roasting and the gravy. Eating too much of it may make you feel a bit heavy. ☀️The restaurant has plenty of natural light, and you can also have coffee outdoors. Both inside and outside are lively, with everyone chatting and chattering. It's about a 15-minute walk from Battersea Park. It's in the opposite direction of the shopping mall. It's suitable to take a bus to Clapham Junction and then stroll to the restaurant. After having a good meal, you can walk to Battersea Park and soak up the sun, which is a perfect itinerary. If you're near Vaushall or Battersea Power Station, it's about a 15-minute taxi ride. But if you're a girl from East London, you can visit the park and enjoy the spring scenery along the way. If you're just coming for the meal, the journey may be a bit long. 🍴Restaurant Name: Caravela Portuguese Restaurant 🏠Address: 145-149 Battersea High St, London SW11 3JS 💰Average Cost per Person: £30-40.
