I wish I had more than 9 hours(2)
📿 Afternoon: Shrine Hopping and Shopping Spree 🌿 1️⃣ 13:40 Nishitetsu Shrine The shrine is right next to the pedestrian street. ⛩️ It's the guardian deity of Hakata, and the cherry blossoms 🌸 are also very beautiful. 2️⃣ 14:30 Tocho-ji Temple 📿 Home to Japan's largest wooden Buddha statue + a dark and mysterious hell passage. 3️⃣ 15:00 Hakata Canal City 🛍️ The canal features hourly fountain shows. Head to the 3rd floor "MUJI" for limited-edition mentaiko senbei (requires refrigeration⚠️), and check out the JUMP merchandise store. 4️⃣ 16:00 Tenjin Shopping District 💸 Luxury shoppers, head to "Iwataya" or "Daimaru" for tax-free shopping! We didn't have time to explore and only visited Tenjin Park + Tenjin Underground Street, where we tried a local Fukuoka favorite, "Aji no Tadashi Fuku." Next up, it's time for a sprint of shopping and the journey back. 🛒 17:00 Don Quijote A large shopping supermarket (also found in Hong Kong). Sweep up the last batch of snacks! We recommend Hakata-limited "mentaiko butter chips." 🚖 17:40 Head back to the ferry terminal. Simply hail a taxi on the street and tell the driver "Cruise Center" (same pronunciation in English and Japanese). 💡 Experience Summary ✅ Souvenir Tips: Fukuya Mentaiko, available at shrines and underground streets (requires refrigeration, p16), is highly recommended by locals❗️ It's not yet popular on XHS, so many people don't know about it. We visited two stores, and neither had many customers. ⏰ Time Management: For the shopaholics, head straight to the Tenjin shopping district. Make a list in advance and go directly to your target stores. You can skip Hakata Canal City if needed. #fukuoka
