Idaho State Capitol & Downtown Boise Snapshots ποΈ
The Idaho State Capitol, located in the heart of downtown Boise, is a landmark building worth visiting. This 4-story European-style structure is grand and impressive, built entirely with white marble. Visitors are welcome inside β you can even sit in on certain legislative sessions when theyβre open to the public. πποΈ Downtown Boise also offers charming pedestrian streets and the famous Freak Alley graffiti art π¨. Aside from a few central βhigh-rises,β most buildings in Boise are three stories or shorter. The city feels open and spacious β with wide views of the sky, bright blue days, stunning sunsets π , expansive green parks, a river flowing through the city, and mountains in the distance. Coming from the bustling, high-rise packed streets of Guangzhou, I found Boise incredibly refreshing and peaceful. π One downside? The sun is intense! Sunrise as early as 6 AM and sunset around 9 PM β plenty of daylight, but donβt forget your sunscreen! βοΈπ As the capital of Idaho, also known as the βCity of Treesβ π³, Boise is one of the U.S. cities with the highest percentage of white population. Itβs spacious, peaceful, safe, and laid-back β in fact, it was named one of the Top 10 Most Livable Cities in the U.S. last year! Everywhere I went felt clean and well-kept β I didnβt see a single homeless person. Boise has seen a wave of new residents in recent years π§³βοΈ, and its population has now surpassed 700,000. Itβs becoming a hub for startups and tech companies. Micron Technology β the largest memory chip maker in the U.S. β is headquartered here.
