In Midtown Manhattan, you can enjoy Michelin ramen for just $27!? π
Last week, during the weekday, my friend and I checked out Tonchin's lunch special set. πΈπ This $27 set is available until 2:30 PM from Monday to Friday, which is super cost-effective and perfect for nearby workers or student workers π§π»βπΌπ©π»βπΌ. For the appetizer, I ordered the Unagi rice ball. I've recently been obsessed with eel. πThe sweet and savory eel is truly delicious and highly recommended ππ»! My friend ordered the Tsukune bun, which was also quite tasty π. Neither of us chose the traditional ramen but opted for dipping noodles and mixed noodles instead. Both were pretty good. The mixed noodles were a type of cold noodles, somewhat similar to the chicken silk cold noodles back home (but without the chicken silk). πΈπ The dipping noodles had a salty flavor, and the meat was a bit salty too. I guess the dipping broth is probably the same as the ramen broth. πThe soft-boiled egg tasted like a marinated egg, very flavorful and delicious. The noodles were cold if not dipped in the broth. We were quite satisfied with the meal, but the downside was that the dipping broth wasn't thick enough to cling well to the noodles, which affected the overall flavor. πThat's probably why it hasn't been awarded Michelin stars in recent years. The taste seems to have declined compared to pre-pandemic times. I personally don't think it's necessary to have high expectations when trying it. Coming with a normal mindset might make it taste even better ππ»ββοΈ. πΈπAlthough the two bowls of noodles don't look like much, with the appetizers, the two of us, as girls, were still able to get full. I heard that their shaved ice and desserts are also very good. Sitting next to the kitchen, you can even see how the shaved ice is made. πThe portion is really substantial. Unfortunately, we were too full to try it at the time. If there's a next time, we definitely have to try the matcha shaved ice π΅π₯Ί!! π13 W 36th St., New York, NY 10018 #New York Life π½π
