In Sicily, you can also explore this off-the-beaten-path attraction.
Every time I visit a new city, I always enjoy exploring the local botanical garden. Botanical gardens not only offer the unique tranquility of a city but also the lively atmosphere of plants and animals. In Palermo, Sicily, if you’ve had enough of the mainstream attractions, you can visit this lesser-known spot: Orto Botanico di Palermo Orto Botanico dell'Università degli Studi di Palermo. 🌿 This botanical garden was established in the 18th century and is affiliated with the University of Palermo. It has a history of over 200 years. As you stroll through the garden, you’ll be surrounded by a variety of plants. In particular, the plants native to Sicily seem to have become an integral part of the essence of this land, exuding a wild and vigorous vitality. 🌳 Especially the Ficus macrophylla is the tree I see most often and like the most in Sicily. I have never seen such a huge evergreen fig tree. Its canopy towers high, and its roots crisscross like a natural sculpture. Every time I pass by, I stop and marvel at it for a long time, attracted by its almost mystical presence. 🌳 The botanical garden also features a botanical library, three gardens with different styles (French, Roman, and Oriental gardens), a herbarium, and a greenhouse. If you’re interested in nature, you’ll definitely fall in love with this place. 🌺 Important reminder: Be sure to wear long sleeves and pants or bring insect repellent! Otherwise, you might end up like me, fleeing from all the bites. 😅 (Opening hours: 09:00-20:00) #Sicily #Palermo #PalermoTravel #BotanicalGarden #HiddenItalianAttractions #TravelRecommender #BeautifulLegendsOfSicily #BigCitySmallRomance #NatureTherapy #TreeHugging
